Why Practice Self-Care?

You change the oil in your car regularly and repaint your house when it’s looking a bit worn. Why wouldn’t you do basic maintenance and upkeep on yourself? Self-care is just that- basic maintenance on yourself. “You cannot pour from an empty cup”, a saying we use in the mental health field to describe the importance of self-care. Self-care is the equivalent of pouring water back into your cup to pour out another time. Keeping your cup full takes time, energy, and patience with yourself.

I have compiled a list of ideas below to get you started on your own self-care pathway. If you have any ideas to add to this list, please reach out and we will add! Keep the ideas flowing :)
