- About Me
Relationships are the most important thing to me. I value most in life my family and boyfriend, my dog, friends and colleagues, and my mahi, which includes of course my clients. I love to surf and play basketball as often as I can. I am grateful to live close to a bunch of incredible world class surf breaks! I love to travel, pause with a hot drink, eat and share food with friends and family, and dive into trying new recipes.
Hi, I am Rosa!
Kia ora!
My name is Rosa and I am a counsellor based in New Plymouth, Taranaki. I am passionate about providing a safe and personalised space for people to feel seen and heard through evidence-informed and ethical practice. Alongside deep and meaningful conversations, I love to incorporate laughter and fun when relevant. When working with young people, I utilise activities like sport, art, and games for engagement and relationship building. I have the option for clients to spent time with my therapy dog Bear, a very friendly female Samoyed. I am passionate about working with people to explore their relationship with themselves and others, in order to make sense and meaning of their experience, and guide future experiences. It is important to me that I try to provide clients with avenues for learning through insight, while they feel engaged and safe to do so.

- Counselling Approach
I take a pluralistic approach to counselling, incorporating primarily trauma-informed, person-centred, narrative, and strengths-based therapies, with a social constructionist lens grounded in attachment theory. For my practice, the relationship is at the centre, so trust building and whanaungatanga is at the forefront of any of my counselling work. I aim to work alongside clients, keeping them at the centre of their world with myself as a guide for exploring their thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. I aim to create a nurturing space together for clients to safely reflect on their wants and needs and how to live intentionally for themselves and those who matter most to them.
