Introduction:
About Me:
My name is Kelly and I am a Licensed Counselor in Texas. I’ve worked with parents who’ve had their children removed by CPS. I’ve worked with those in crisis and connected them to services on a mobile crisis team in Georgia. I’ve worked in the foster care system in Texas for a CPA. And right now I’m balancing my own private practice as well as working with the most difficult population I’ve come into contact with as of yet, teenagers with substance abuse and addiction in a treatment facility in Houston, TX. I’ve been practicing for over 5 years and have expertise ranging from: depression, anxiety, substance use, transition and adjustment issues, life changes, and ADHD symptom management among others. I take what I’ve learned and meet you where you currently are in your life. I use your strengths and build upon them to develop the skills you need to get through what you’re going through. I take the time to get to know you before beginning the necessary work on what brought you to therapy. You are not your problems, nor should you be treated like that.
Counseling Approach:
Therapy is driven by you and the modality used also depends on what best fits for you. I use motivational interviewing to get to know you, your though processes, and how you see the world before choosing between a solution focused method with cognitive behavioral techniques to help you form the necessary connections between your thoughts and your actions. Once that connection is established we can change your thinking, which will change the behavior you see as mal-adaptive. It's your life and it should be your therapy too.
