About Me

Who Am I?

My name is Ashley Cairns and I am the founder behind A Change for Better and A Peaceful Place. I provide numerous services helping people with personal development, wellness, and problem solving. Through my one to one counselling in Auckland through to my various membership programs and resources provided for free, I look to make sure that everyone has open access to the support and assistance they need in life.

However, I also know that Auckland has many other great experts in the art of wellness. So, why choose me? Let me explain. For over 15 years, I have been working in the Mental Health and Community Services sectors in the US and New Zealand. I hold a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Both were achieved in New York with honors.

My experience includes:

✔ Telehealth services (online, phone, text counseling)

I have dedicated my career to helping others better understand themselves so they can achieve success. People choose to attend counselling when they are looking for answers to life problems. I excel at helping you come up with the answers to these questions. My approach to helping people involves using person-centered and solution-focused therapy techniques. This helps me to gain a better understanding of what’s going on. I put solutions in place to help you overcome your problems.

I’ve been lucky enough to live and work in three amazing countries; the United States of America, Canada, and New Zealand. In each country, I’ve enjoyed working well with people from various backgrounds and facing numerous challenges. From people with mental health issues to those who are in need of intensive in-patient treatment through to home treatments and skill building, I’ve worked across various fields. Every field, though, shared something in common: making life better for someone.

This is my passion, my drive, and my energy. It’s what gets me out of bed in the morning, and what makes me so driven. I’ve ran various courses on how to work with people with challenging behavior. I have helped people cope with children who have autism, and I’ve played a role in creating workshops to help promote positive, progressive parenting techniques.

Through my various enterprises, I want to give people the opportunity to move forward in their life. Instead of being stuck in a rut, I look to step in and provide people with the help that they need to get out of a tough situation.

Why A Change for Better?

A Change for Better is the ideal starting place for anyone who wants to help literally feel better in life. Everything that comes through this service is aimed to helping to make life easier for someone, somewhere. Whether you are based in Auckland or not, I want to be there to help you make the next steps that you need in life.

The service is built on a desire to help overcome the fiscal reality of promoting wellness. Poverty, food inequality, nutritional deficits, exercise limits, and intellectual destitution are all problems that I see holding back personal development. Many communities can give their people the help they need as they can only find the funds to focus on one solution, not every solution. When there is a gap in what your community can provide, A Change for Better looks to fill that gap.

This is a program dedicated to helping people in life and ensuring that they have access to the support they need to feel better and to take that next step in life. Whether it’s physical issues, mental issues, intellectual issues or financial frailty that is your problem, I am here to help.

What is A Peaceful Place?

A Peaceful Place is my creative love child. A Peaceful Place is a YouTube channel dedicated to easy listening, soothing music with tranquil scenery. The idea was born out of my own love of relaxing music videos and my desire to learn new skills. I have been editing videos now for about a year and I love it. I encourage you to check it out sometime.

The aim is simple – to help you see what drives me and helps me to retain my own sense of inner peace. Hey, if you are going to rely upon me to help you change your life and your mind-set then you have to understand what I bring to the table for you!

I stay healthy and calm through various methods, but A Peaceful Place offers you all the support that you need to make that crucial next step. Sometimes, all we need is a better atmosphere and you can be surprised at just how much you can change.
